The global consumption of electronics is growing at an enormous rate, and so is the amount of e-waste. Last year, the world's population threw out 54 m t of e-waste, which is a record value and 9 m t more than just five years ago, in 2014. At the same time, e-waste is one of the most toxic and harmful kinds of waste.
