Gigafactory 3
from Tesla

It was China that attracted the company's attention for a reason. The Celestial Empire remains the second largest market for Tesla lagging behind only the USA. The Chinese government support made it possible to build Gigafactory 3 in record time.

Shanghai, China

It took Tesla only 168 days (or about six months) to go from obtaining construction permits to connecting the brand new factory to grid. The company made great emphasis on process automation: most of the plant area is occupied by hundreds of robots, which are involved in almost all stages of production.

STATE SUPPORT MEASURES:
  • 10% vehicle sale tax is abolished for the factory products;
  • USD 565 m - a working capital loan from the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China;
